Luis Castillo had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Nimrod Numnuts defeated the
Chicago Colts by the score of 7 to 6 at the ballpark.
Nimrod scored 4 runs in the 6th inning with the help of 4 hits. The key
at-bat was by Castillo who deflated the spirits of the home town crowd when
he doubled bringing in two baserunners. Chicago threatened in the 9th but
their rally came up short.
Brad Hennessey(1-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Takashi Saito gained credit for his 7th save. Luis Vizcaino(1-1) took the
loss in relief. He pitched 1 inning giving up 3 hits and no walks.
'Anytime you lose it hurts,' said Stan Halgas 'but it's losing the close ones
that really hurt.'
